Icebreaker Gala Update

Before I start this update, as you know i see a nutritionist called Alan Gillit if you would like to learn more about him please click here. I also see a sports phycologist called Ash Lawrence if you would like to learn more about him please click here.

Last weekend I had the Icebreaker gala, this is the official start of the season and a chance for me to improve my times.

My first race on Saturday was the 100m backstroke, I have been finding it hard to hit my personal best time for a while now. To my great surprise I managed, I was vey happy because this means I am on form for the new season. My next race on saturday was the 100m butterfly, I have been practicing butterfly more in training and feel I have got the rhythm needed for the stoke now. All my training paid off because I managed to knock 2 seconds off my personal best time. I went to bed happy with  the 2 thirds I achieved only being beaten by 15 year olds.

On Sunday my first race was the 100m breaststroke, breaststroke is my weakest stroke, but i managed to knock 1 second off my personal best. We filmed this race and I feel I have a lot of technique adjustments i can implement to make me go even faster. In the final I finished 5th in this event. My next race was the 200m backstroke, this is my best race. I managed to get a 1 second off my personal best regional time. But I feel I paced myself wrong because I had a lot of energy at the end of the race. So next time I race this event I will be expecting to drop a lot more time. My last race on Sunday was the 200m Freestyle, before this race I had a long wait of 3 hours so I was a bit out of focus. Saying this I still managed to achieve a Personal best time knocking 3 seconds off!

New Year Update

Lots of things have happened over the last few months.

I swam at the East Invictor Championships which landed me a place in an Olympic Training camp.

Last weekend I attended the Olympic Training camp lead by Mel Marshall, ex-Olympian and head coach at the City of Derby swimming club. It was a two day camp and only the best swimmers in Kent were invited. We had 4 hours of swimming and 4 hours of gym and circuit work each day. I worked myself very hard and feel I have gained a great deal from the experience. I had the most amazing time, I learnt an array of new skills that I wish to bring into my training regime.

Another bit of exciting news is Ash Lawrence a performance pshcologist has decided to sponsor me. He is helping me visualise and use EFT. The thinking behind EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is to remove every negative thought from my mind. He explained to me every negative thought will hurt my performance.

My last bit of news, I ran in the district schools running competition and finished 5th, this means I am invited to run for Canterbury at the kent schools championships 2013. Its just a bit of fun and I am looking forward to it immensely.
